Aloha,
Sorry if this isnt deemed worthy of a blog post of its own but its something thats been bugging me for years like crazy so.....
Back when i was about 16/17 me and a girlfriend hitched from devon to gloucester (yeah i know) to see babybird on the theres something going on tour (i figure it was) in autumn of 99. after eating in a resturant owned by fred west (hes not dead, seriously, he started massaging my shoulders a bit as i ate) and being sworn at by tramps outside what i think was kfc we got to the show. i remember seeing stephen and luke in the bar and being too scared to say hello....it was like seeing elvis and....i dunno, the colnoel with the dancing chickens IN PERSON! I digress. anyway i swear to this day that during the show they did a version of 'swinging from tree to tree' that was pretty different from the original and twas utterly amazing if my addled memory serves me. thing is its never been on bootlegs and i cant find mention of it anywhere, so yeah, am i imagining or did this happen!?!?! Put my mind at rest, and if stephens reading this and needs his mind jogging....its the show when you laughed/slurred your way through YG and ended the show calling the audience inbred and having a guy in the fron row take a swing at you. happy times! though i guess that couldve been any number of shows. : )

GLOUCESTER CIVIC HALL. I remember that show! Stephen had someone's trainer from the front and some guy shouted to him to give it back. I recall the "you fat gloucester c*#t" comment from SJ. Also remember my 'reefer' disappearing onto the stage!!! never did get it back!!!

Crazy gig there
I have loved to have seen Babybird in 1998!
He even played in Copenhagen (at Loppen, a small and wonderful venue in the 'free city' Christiania) on that tour, but I was stuck in the other end of the country at the time (that's the second time I missed him here). Doh..

Anyway, the only live recording of Swinging is, to my knowledge, on this one from manchester.

Haven't heard it for years, but I remember it's quite different compared to the one on BS.

I have a listen when I get home from work.

Hi, I was at aLondon gig on the TSGO tour and he also did a very beautiful rendition of Swinging From Tree to Tree. I like the recorded version on Bad Shave, but its certainly nowhere near as moving as my memory of it f'rom that gig. I have not come across another recording of it that I recall.
