The Bad Pages is calling out: I've arranged for an (e-mail) interview with Stephen before the new single comes out in february. So I figured why don't we all make it a joint effort though this site?

If you post your Babyird-related question(s) to the man here, I'll ship the best ones off to him by the end of January - and post the full interview on your favorite fan site soon after.

The last Bad Pages interview was in 2008 when he released Death of the Neighbourhood. Check it out here.

So what do you want to know about the coming album, tour, lyrics, future plans, celebrity friends etc?? Post now!

ps: Did you ever wasted a whole evening reading though the new interview section with almost 50 interviews (some in audio) going all the way back to the happy, happy days... ?

oh, right, and SJ, you're welcome post one too...

The interview is under way... thanks for the questions below.

Stephen has already ansvered 30+ questions about the new album, how he prepares for a gig with a nice cup of tea, slippers and pipe - and about pararazzi's making Johnny Depp looking like a dwarf!

Look forward to a fun read on the bad pages throughout february.

Until then here's an answer for you Victoria:

Where did the band name come from? (Victoria)
“Babybird just described the early lo-fi albums. Four track recordings of simple fragile songs.
A protection of innocence like a babybird fallen out of a nest. Half dead, fucked up beauty.
Since then people have said a babybird is what cupped dick and balls looks like. And it is also something american students called babybirding, when someone drinks 80 milkshakes then pukes it up onto the face of another student. Ah, what a lovely world we live in.”

This is cheeky, but we're an indie label who're enquiring about support slots for the 2010 tour for one of our acts? Have you finalised?

Regards.

1.Can we hope for a Babybird gig in Paris soon ? Or is it just a dream because money rules the world ?
2.Do you consider doing a black session with Bernard Lenoir as well ?
A french fan who has never forgotten the New Morning gig...

Mike Johns Comment by Mike Johns on January 12, 2010 at 5:42am
First of all, I think this is a great idea! Thanks for the opportunity! There's lots of questions I'd love to ask Stephen, but I'll limit myself to the first two that popped in my head.

I first found Babybird when the song title "Jesus is My Girlfriend" caught my eye in a BMG catalog. Needless to say I ordered Ugly Beautiful immediately and have been hooked ever since. Over the years there's been numerous references to Jesus in all manner of songs. From my own experience I was raised as a Mormon and after falling out with the religion and my family, I've developed what many would consider a twisted sense of humor about the man. So, long story short, where does all of your "Jesus-ness" come from?

Second question, short and not specifically Babybird related: will the world ever be graced with another Stephen Jones novel? I for one certainly hope so!

Thanks again!
